The Phillipines
offer many great locations to surf in a tropical climate. Catanduanes- closest consistent break to Manila,
may take
a day, a few buses and a boat ferry- but its awesome. Great diving and checking out some serious
world war II wrecks- check out Coron bay. The moonsoon season blows
from July to November and there is lots of wave action. Typhoons
rage during the rainy months but the islands of Mindanao and Siargao
are often spared. On the island of Siargao the
famous Cloud 9 break also known as Boyum's for the legendary travel
surfer
Michael Boyum. Other legendary
surf breaks in the Phillipines are Ventura, Pilar Point, Tuason
Point, Pancit Reef and Horseshoes. The Pangutaran Islands
are also worth a check.
