SURFING FRANCE

There is excellent surf in France. Biarritz is THE surf town of France.   Hossegor, Lacanau. A lot of the main beaches are crowded, so you'll have to search around and you'll find some insane breaks.  The ASP stop in France.   Cote d'Argent (Coast between Bordeaux and Biarritz) often in May there is a decent swell, but sometimes too big for average surfers.  The swell tends to mellow out in July/August  . Crowds  can be a problem at the popular beaches well known Biarritz, Hossegor, Laca- nau, Mimizan.  But if you adventure a bit and walk a bit down the beach from the parking places or camping sites you can always find a less crowded spot.  A cheap place to stay is an Auberge de Jeunesse (Youth Hostel).   They also have camping there in either a group tent or bring your own, as always call or write ahead for availability. There are numerous campgrounds in the area. People often set up camp in one and stay for months on end. Quite the party atmosphere.
