LEARN HOW TO PREDICT SURFING WAVES |
|
How did those rascally Hawaiians know the weather at sea with out a
computer...
http://www.pvs-hawaii.org/navigation/noninstrument.htm
Plain and simple with out mushmouth's explainations of wave
prediction...

A few little ditties included here to help you understand the
difference between
California and East Coast wave/swells...
http://www.nctimes.com/~steveparker/sur_south.htm
Why is it so beeeg in California when I look
at the wave prediction maps and there are big waves off
the East Coast....
The "Continental Shelf" is not that breakfast tray you
get in hotels...
Notice the fat section of light blue that goes to deep blue...
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/image/2minsurface/45N090W.html
It breaks down large swells from moving to the coast...
As compared to the California coast line....

Where you will notice near the top of the map
a section that looks like a snow shovel scooped out a section
of ocean floor.
Waves traveling a long distance over deep water maintain their
energy... waves traveling any distance over shallower water
lose their comparitive energy.
Had enough Spanky?
Ha...
I got more for ya that will
make you dizzy eatin' your cornflakes....
