When it all started 31 years ago in 1975 it was originally called "Save Six for September," one of the Top 100 Events in America is now called Sunfest in Ocean City Maryland, is looked forwarded to by thousands. Sunfest is organized as a cooperative effort between business and city government in Ocean City Maryland to attract and celebrated one last blow out for locals and tourists in a fantastic carnival atmosphere.

 
Opening day, Thursday will once again serve as Seniors Day with talent contest, prizes and free taffy from Candy Kitchen. On Friday, the Adeler Jewelers Treasure Hunt will be featured along with an evening bonfire on the beach in addition to the musical entertainment inside and outside the entertainment tent.

40 Food vendors will present all those traditional "sea foods," from funnel cakes and curly fries to fried oyster sandwiches and crab specialties.

Also during the Sunfest in Ocean City Maryland is the splendid
Annual Sunfest Kite Festival will fill the air with a splash of color over the downtown beach. Sponsored by the Kite Loft, this annual world-class kite festival is in its 18th year. The Sunfest Kite Festival runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily on the beaches between Division and 6th streets.

Park & Ride to Sunfest
To get to Sunfest festival grounds with no stress, city officials urge everyone to use THE BUS. The resort offers a ride-all-day fare which enables you to get on and off as often as you want for $2 a day. Also, satellite parking areas are available with Park 'N' Ride Shuttle Service.



Park 'N' Ride Locations:
* New Ocean City Park & Ride, just over Rt. 50 Bridge, south side of the road in West Ocean City
* Ocean City Convention Center, 40 St. and Coastal Hwy (walk out to Coastal Hwy to bus stop)
* Public Safety Building, 65th Street
* Ocean Plaza Mall, 94th Street
* Gold Coast Mall, 115th Street
* Northside Park, 125th Street - walk to 125th Street Bus Stop

Parking is free at all locations. Extra buses will be in use during the festival and will pick up both individuals and groups at any bus stop along Coastal Hwy.. All bus passengers will be dropped off at the Transit Center on South Division Street, just across the boardwalk from Sunfest.
