10/21/2004 The charges were filed by the Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The two pitbulls, Chief and Sibyl, were caught by a woman who turned them in to the SPCA, the dogs were caught roaming near Route 1 (the highway). The owner of the dogs will go before a panel to determine if the dogs shall be returned or euthanized in a human manner. Comment: unfortunately some people just shouldn't own animals, yet we have no problem if they have children roaming about at night unaccounted for, or left at home under the "latch-key" philosophy. Pitbulls have received a bad rap in recent times, most often due to the owner's management of the animal, or even worse, the pretence to owning an animal that has been breed with it's inherent characteristics. Maybe, just maybe, the owner should be euthanized. |
