Harpoon Hanna's Restaurant and their managers run a "tight ship."   So.. what does that mean in the realm of recent events.    During the summer months for dinner, the restaurant will serve up to and exceeding 1000 dinners.   This is a very high volume.   Many restaurants boast 200 - 400 dinners as a high volume.  This is an extremely fast,  highly efficient operation in a short amount of time.   Employing over 300 waiters, waitress, bartenders, busboy/gals and kitchen help at the peak season.    The menu is extensive and varied, multiplied by the many additional customer requests during and evening's service.   A person does not just walk in off the street and start waiting tables or become a bartender.   An extensive training period to learn the menu and operate the computers to process your dinner order does not happen in one day, and often can take weeks for an efficient waiter or waitress to master.
There are many safeguards to prevent theft.   But as we all know, if someone is determined to make an "attack," it will probably occur.    To be able to start stealing credit card information a person would have to "duck" into a corner and or become very secretive, with the volume of employees there is always somebody, somewhere that could see your actions.
Are you safe doing business with Harpoons.... you bet.   We would think even more so now that such an incident has occurred, and you can be certain extra safeguards will be put in place to help prevent a repeated event.
