New York Police Seize 18,000 Pounds Of Fireworks From Truck Monday, May 29 2006 |

The Associated Press Police officers who stopped a truck that was tail gating a fuel tanker on a highway say they made a potentially explosive discovery - 18,000 pounds of fireworks. "It would have devastated a quarter-mile radius if they had gone off," Suffolk County Police Department spokesman Robert Boden said Wednesday. The truck carrying the explosives was found to be dangerously overloaded when it was pulled over Monday for a routine safety check,police said. A police dog named Nitro - a German shepherd added to the department's anti-terrorism efforts after the Sept. 11 attacks -sniffed out the fireworks. The driver of the truck, whose manifest said it was carrying papergoods, brought the fireworks from Maryland for illegal resale, policesaid. State law prohibits the sale or possession of fireworks without apermit. The driver, who was with his adult son, faces multiple summonses for carrying hazardous materials and driving an overweight truck. To demonstrate how powerful 18,000 pounds of fireworks could be, police exploded about 25 pounds of the sky rockets, Roman candles and other fireworks inside a car at the department's firearms range in Westhampton. The car was destroyed in a massive fireball. |

FBI Probes Ozarks Trucking School for Terrorist Ties The superintendent of the West Plains public school district, which runs the South Central Career Center Truck Training Program as part of vocational training, said the FBI had told district officials the investigation was focused on people who took the tests for a commercial driver's license. Of about 520 people who did not train at the school but took the test there from May 2004 through December 2005, over 300, or about 60 percent, had names that could be Middle Eastern in origin. "They're just names that you would question as to how come there were so many people of those origins, because in the area we don't have that many Middle Eastern people," Eslinger said. Records obtained from the school by The Associated Press under Missouri's open records law showed a high percentage of surnames such as Ali, Fatah, Mohamed and Yusuf. West Plains, about 100 miles southeast of Springfield near the Arkansas border, is a town of about 11,000 people in Howell County, where the population is over 95 percent white, according to the U.S. Census. The largest immigrant population is Hispanic. They push their political agenda by firing honest and outspoken performers as the case of Michael Gram's firing at WMAL in Washington D.C. by the Disney conglomerate. The music is all the same... and often selected by a radio wannabe or the show attempts to be outrageous or outlandish. But now... we have the internet... Even TV can be the participants choice...for as little as $5 bucks a month you can get Internet TV and just about tell the cable TV companies to take a hike. There are lots of free radio streams of many styles available on the internet. |
