Some people are using as little as a 4/3 boots and gloves, and no hood. Thats a bit chilly for me... and I can't take icecream headaches. The water is near 48 degrees... I personally took the temp in the surf on Saturday, its 48 degrees.. Of course, on a warm sunny day in the 70s or 80s a few icecream headaches won't matter too much.

I've been in with a 3/2,boots,gloves the last two sessions(last Friday/Sat) It was a bit nip...but it felt great to be loose. I stayed in for about 2 hours each session

i surfed last weekend in a 3/2 suit with 3mm boots and 2 mm gloves and was fine except all that extra weight can get tiring.
